Boat Rentals & Charters

At Toronto Harbour Nautical Centre, we offer a diverse fleet of sailboats, powerboats, and yachts to suit every type of on-water experience. Whether you're an experienced boater or trying it for the first time, we have options to get you out on the water.

We provide bareboat rentals for those with recognized certifications or equivalent experience. For newer boaters, our smaller powerboats are a fantastic introduction to boating, with full safety briefings and guidance from our knowledgeable team before you depart.

Rental Guidelines

How to Rent

Getting out on the water with Toronto Harbour Nautical Centre is simple and accessible. Whether you’re an experienced boater or newer to boating, our team will guide you through the process to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Please review the requirements and policies below before booking your rental.

To rent a boat, you must:

  • Be 21+ with a valid G driver’s licence, or

  • Be 18+ with a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)

All renters are required to arrive 20 minutes prior to departure for a mandatory safety briefing and orientation.

For sailboats and larger powerboats, prior experience on similar vessels is required. You will be asked to complete a Boating Resume for approval.

If you don’t yet have the required experience, no problem — simply complete our Charter Inquiry Form, and we can arrange a qualified skipper to operate the vessel for you (additional fees apply).

Booking & Cancellation Policy

  • Bookings made more than 30 days in advance require a 25% deposit

  • Bookings made within 30 days require full payment

  • Rentals may be rescheduled up to 48 hours prior for a $25 rescheduling fee

  • All bookings are subject to a $1.95 non-refundable booking fee

In the event of unsafe weather conditions (including thunderstorms or sustained winds over 20 knots), Toronto Harbour Nautical Centre reserves the right to cancel bookings.

If a booking is cancelled due to weather, refunds are not issued, and an alternate date will be arranged within the same season.

Powerboat Rentals

Get out on the water and experience Toronto from a whole new perspective. Our powerboat rentals are ideal for harbour cruising, social outings, and making the most of summer on Lake Ontario. With easy-to-handle boats and full guidance from our team, it’s the perfect way to enjoy time on the water with friends, family, or clients.

Tier 1 / Inexperienced Boaters / Inner Harbour

Options for 1-5 persons
Starting at $119/hr

To rent a Tier 1 boat, you must be over 21 with a current G-level driver’s license OR over 18 with a Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC). Our knowledgeable staff will give a full safety briefing on all rentals.


Tier 2 / Experienced Boaters

Options for 1-10 persons
Starting at $149 /hr

Tier 2 and 3 powerboat rentals require you to have experience with comparable boats. You are required to fill in a Boating Resume in order to be approved for one of these boats.


Tier 3 / Experienced Boaters

Options for 1-10 persons
Starting at $335 / 2hrs

Tier 3 powerboat rentals require you to have experience with comparable boats. You are required to fill in a Boating Resume in order to be approved for one of these boats.

Sailboat & Yacht Rentals

To rent a sailboat or yacht, prior sailing experience on comparable vessels is required. Please complete our online Boating Resume Form for review and approval before booking.

If you do not yet have the required experience, we’re happy to help you get out on the water. Simply call our office at (416) 203-3000 or complete ourCharter Inquiry Form to arrange a certified skipper or instructor to join you on board.

Skippered charters are available at an additional rate of $60/hr (Harbour 20/ J24/ Dinghies), $70/hr (Hunter/ Mirages/ C&C24), $80/hr (Niagara35), allowing you to relax and enjoy the experience while learning along the way..

Sailboats - J24 and Harbour 20

Options for 2-5 persons
Starting at $225/3hrs

Keelboat rentals require you to have experience with comparable boats and/or appropriate certifications and training. You are required to fill in a Boating Resume in order to be approved for one of these boats.


Dinghies - RS Feva, RS Zest and Hobie Cat

Options for 1-4 persons
Starting at $135/3hrs

Dinghy rentals require you to have experience with comparable boats and/or appropriate certifications and training. You are required to fill in a Boating Resume in order to be approved for one of these boats.


Yachts - Hunter 240, Mirage 27’s + Niagara 35

Options for 2-9 persons
Starting at $300/2hrs

Yacht rentals require you to have experience with comparable boats and/or appropriate certifications and training. You are required to fill in a Boating Resume in order to be approved for one of these boats.

Please note that the Niagara 35 is not available for bareboat charters; however, a certified instructor/skipper can be provided. Please complete a Boat Charter Inquiry Form to request this.

    Skippered charter rates:

    ·        $60/hour – Harbour 20, J24, Dinghies, all Powerboats

    ·        $70/hour – Hunter, Mirage, C&C 24

    ·        $80/hour – Niagara 35

    This is a great option if you would like to enjoy the experience while learning along the way

    Please note that no-shows are non-refundable.

  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as vessel damage or operational issues, we will contact you as soon as possible. Where possible, we will either:

    ·        Reschedule your booking, or

    ·        Offer an alternative vessel

  • Yes. Boat rentals for photoshoots or filming is possible. Please contact our office for more information. Standard rental rates may apply.

  • Our keelboats may not be sailed single-handed and require at least one additional crew member on board.

    Dinghies may be sailed single-handed, depending on experience and approval.

  • Please ensure you allow enough time within your rental period for rigging and de-rigging your sailboat or dinghy. Failure to properly de-rig may result in a $50 fee.

  • Yes. Children and infants count as passengers and must be included in the maximum legal capacity of the vessel.

  • No. Alcohol and smoking are not permitted on any of our vessels.

  • Yes, food is permitted on board. However, boats must be returned in clean condition, and a cleaning fee may apply if the vessel is left dirty

  • ·        Lunds and F13s are permitted in the Inner Harbour only

    ·        All other rental boats may operate in the Outer Harbour, within approved boundaries, one nautical mile from our base at THNC.

  • No, we do not offer jet ski rentals. However, we do have a range of other power vessels available.

  • These boats are not designed for high speed. As they are limited to the Inner Harbour, where speed restrictions apply, they are a safer and more suitable option for newer boaters.

  • Yes, we do accept international licences, subject to review and approval where required.

  • Yes. Public parking is available directly across from us at the Rees Street parking lot.

    The TTC also stops at our location, making it easy to access by public transit.

  • No public docking on the Islands is permitted unless you have obtained the necessary permit from the appropriate Parks and Recreation department.
